It’s only a short step from drawing to show jumping

This spring will see the return to Paris of two events that are not to be missed. Drawing Now, the contemporary art fair, is at the Carreau du Temple, while the Saut Hermès, a prestigious show jumping competition, takes place under the magnificent glass roof of the Grand Palais.

Drawing Now, an event on the cutting edge of contemporary drawing

It’s been called less noble than painting, less trendy than photography... and yet the art of drawing is with us more strongly than ever, as amply demonstrated by the superb work to be found in Drawing Now, a show that invites you to experience the contemporary art scene through drawings. Drawing Now awaits you at the Carreau du Temple, a cultural and sports venue in the 3rd arrondissement.

Drawing Now returns from March 23rd to 26th, 2017 for the 11th consecutive year to let you discover the works of talented artists, courtesy of the participating galleries. No less than 80 international galleries selected by an independent committee of leading authorities from the art world will present more than 400 artists and over 2000 artworks during the four days of this European contemporary art fair that is exclusively dedicated to drawing. Collectors, curators and art lovers alike will be exposed to current or emerging artists.

Drawing Now, which received twice as many visitors last year as during its debut, continues to grow and develop, presenting a wide array of activities such as conferences, talks and interviews with the artists themselves. If you are a collector or have any interest in contemporary art, you should not miss this event.

Le Saut Hermès: equestrian excitement under the great glass roof

Over the course of seven years the Saut Hermès, presented within the magnificent Grand Palais, has become a must-see sporting and equestrian event. It brings together the elite of international show jumping competitors under the superb glass roof of this impressive Beaux-Arts style building in the heart of Paris. The 8th edition of this international 5-star show jumping competition will be held on March 17th, 18th and 19th.

The Saut Hermès perpetuates the tradition of the Hermès brand, which was founded in 1837 by Thierry Hermès as a manufacturer of harnesses and saddles. This CSI 5 star competition organised by the International Equestrian Federation pays tribute to the very soul of the original company, which has since become a world-famous high fashion luxury goods manufacturer.

The competition will present some of the world’s finest show jumping specialists vying to win the CSI 5 star classes, including the Grand Prix Hermès and the Talents Hermès. The riders will have to demonstrate astonishing levels of skill and daring to achieve victory in the Prix du 24 Faubourg, a new puissance class scheduled for the evening of Saturday March 18th.

Who will succeed Moroccan rider Abdelkebir Ouaddar and his magnificent mount Quickly de Kreisker, winners of the Saut Hermès in 2016? The question will be answered in mid-March!
