Rock en Seine for a musical Paris summer

Rock en Seine for a musical Paris summer

When you come to the capital this summer to enjoy a great holiday you can be sure of plenty of entertainment, especially of the musical kind. For rock fans there’s the Rock en Seine festival, one of the leading events of its kind in Europe. Those of a more sedate inclination will love Kiosques en Fête, a festival during which the bandstands of Paris offer hundreds of events, including many music concerts. You’ll be at the heart of the music when you stay at the Hotel Jacques de Molay.

Calling all rock fans

If you love to rock, then you simply have to be in the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud on August 26th, 27th and 28th. Within this beautiful park not far from the Pont de Saint-Cloud is the garden designed by André Le Nôtre that is used as the venue for the Festival Rock en Seine, the premiere annual rock festival in Paris. Launched in 2003, this event has grown to the point where each year it attracts a live audience of over 100,000. The programme is always eclectic, diverse and dynamic.

Previous years have presented such talents as Oasis, Amy Winehouse, Muse and the Foo Fighters. The 2006 edition, however, is shaping up to be the best yet, marking a milestone with the return of Massive Attack and the Rock en Seine debut of the legendary wild man of rock, Iggy Pop. With 5 stages to choose from, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to catch performances by your favourites, as well as discover bands you might not have heard before. Amongst this year’s line-up are Sum 41CassiusThe ShinsFoalsSigur Ròs and The Last Shadow Puppets. Beyond the main event, the festival also offers Mini Rock en Seine, to keep the younger music fans happy. Come and enjoy the friendly atmosphere and see why Rock en Seine is one of the most important musical events in Europe.

The return of Kiosques à Musique de Paris

The bandstands of Paris are one of the iconic symbols of the city. Situated in parks and gardens throughout the capital, they are beautiful venues in which to present free concerts during the summer. All the more reason, then, to ensure that they are used and enjoyed as much as possible. This is why the City of Paris launched the Kiosques à Musique festival. Professional and amateur musicians alike are invited to perform from May to October in around 40 bandstands scattered all over the capital.

More than 800 events are planned in total, with something for everyone. Come and enjoy some fine music amidst very pretty surroundings. Many of these Kiosques à Musique can be found within easy reach of your Hotel Jacques de Molay. When you stay here in the heart of the Marais in the centre of Paris you can attend all kinds of musical events and be sure not miss any of the festivities.
