Visit Paris: Discover a diverse cultural venue and dive into the world of boats

If you fancy a change of scene without leaving Paris, there are two essential places. The first, the Carreau du Temple, is a dynamic place in which to spend a few hours. The second, the Salon Nautique de Paris, is one of the world’s leading boat shows.

The Carreau du Temple, a place to live apart

Situated close to the former site of the Temple, the medieval enclosure of the Knights Templar from which it derives its name, the Carreau du Temple embodies a similar free spirit and experimental nature. In the 19th century a covered market was built here. This fell into disuse but in recent years, following a public consultation regarding what it should be used for, it has been renovated and transformed under the direction of the architects of Studio Milou. Today, the Carreau is a venue for an eclectic mix of sports, art, culture and music. It hosts more than 200 shows per year and various events halls are available for private hire.

A rich and varied programme

The Carreau du Temple is a 6,500 m2 multidisciplinary venue which boasts an eclectic programme of events throughout the year. It offers live theatre performances, fashion shows, music festivals, film screenings, vintage fairs, conferences and more. Many exhibitions are also presented, including specially commissioned artistic projects. The topics are wide-ranging and varied. In December, there will be an exhibition about fashion, and events dedicated to organic food and art movies. The Carreau du Temple is located not far from your Hotel Jacques de Molay, so why not pop along and relax with a coffee, check out an exhibition or attend a show after a long day of sightseeing in Paris?

Fancy a holiday on a boat?

If all the excitement on land is not enough and you feel the urge to have a rolling deck beneath your feet, Paris offers the Nautic Show from December 3rd to 11th at the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre. This colossal trade fair deals with all aspects of sailing, boating, board sports, equipment, fishing, rentals, and water-based tourism and fashion. The entire nautical world, in fact. This year the event has expanded into six exhibition halls, making it more wide-ranging than ever.

Nautic; the Salon Nautique de Paris

Whether you are an amateur or professional, this trade show provides all the answers and allows you to discover the latest developments in the world of boating. You can also attend some essential events, including the Chicks on Tour and the Two Tower Tour; wakeboard competitions recognized throughout the world, and see the Nautic SUP Paris Crossing. Taking place on the Seine, this is the world’s biggest stand-up paddleboard race, and is scheduled for December 4th. After all the excitement on the Seine you’ll want to return to your Hotel Jacques de Molay to enjoy some welcome relaxation.
