Maison et Objet trade fair: everyday elegance

While Paris is often seen as the capital of fashion, luxury, culture and gastronomy, it’s also a stronghold of design. Strolling along the cobbled streets of the Marais, near the Hotel Jacques de Molay, you’ll see that the galleries of contemporary art are shoulder to shoulder with numerous shops displaying the creations of many talented designers from around the world. Want to discover the hottest new talents and feel the pulse of the latest trends in decoration, furnishings and interior fittings? Then take advantage of Paris Design Week to explore the capital and visit the essential Salon Maison et Objet, one of the top trade shows of its kind in Europe, which will take place from September 8th to 12th, 2017, at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre.

Creativity makes its comeback

In 2017 the various events of Paris Design Week can be found in four Parisian districts in particular. These are Barbès - Stalingrad, Saint-Germain-des-Prés and Opéra-Concorde-Etoile as well as the neighbourhoods of Les Halles. This extension of the Maison et Objet trade fair offers a multi-faceted, innovative, bold and broad-based approach to design that is celebrated and promoted by hundreds of venues as diverse as showrooms, bookshops, restaurants, galleries, hotels, museums and all sorts of institutions, including some of the capital’s leading exhibition spaces. Paris Design Week invites enthusiasts, professionals and the curious alike to venture through the city and discover a host of inspirational innovations. This event was conceived as an international platform for new and emerging talent, but in addition to the creators of tomorrow you’ll also find the top brands and designers, for whom Paris Design Week is the showcase of choice. Numerous events are organised during this event, such as conferences, round tables, exhibitions and competitions. Paris Design Week is also featured in the new spaces of the Cité de la Mode and Design, designed by architects Jakob + Macfarlane.

A place for inspiration and enjoyment

The internationally acclaimed Maison & Objet lifestyle, décor and design trade fair is traditionally organised around three main poles. These are a Maison space devoted to decoration, as well as lighting and textiles, plus an Objet space gathering together thousands of objects of all shapes and natures, including high-tech gadgets, fashion accessories, smart kitchen utensils and more. Finally, a space called Influences is devoted to creativity, boldness and innovation. Sometimes described as a veritable temple of design, this last section focuses on unique pieces and special innovations ranging as widely as luxury goods and architecture. With its exceptional breadth and the number of exhibitors - about three thousand brands - this colossal trade fair presents itself as an exhaustive reflection of current practices in the world of design. Maison et Objet is held twice a year and, generally speaking, the January edition tends to be more centred on the decoration sector, while the September edition places more emphasis on architectural innovations.
